As the winter reluctantly gives way to spring my skin is feeling the effects of harsh winds and lack of vitamins… My face and my lips were peeling like crazy lately, no amount of moisturising creams seem to help with the “peel phase” to any great effect, and it seems to happen to me every single year in February-March. I am taking vitamin D supplement daily (I really think it helps, I have not had a single cold since November!), and I have been taking biotin supplement for almost two years now and can also see the positive effect the biotin has on my hair but not so much on my skin, so I am considering adding other vitamins/minerals to the mix. I needed some nice but effective lip protection in my life and it turns out Dior Addict was just the product to do it whilst giving some decorative effect to my lips.
I think that beautiful healthy skin does start from within (good varied diet with all the right nutrients and vitamins really helps), but skincare plays a huge role in the way your skin looks and feels. Considering that I am a bit of a skincare junkie who loves switching between different skincare brands, trying various products, it is highly unusual for me to continue using the same brand (I have mentioned some of Antipodies stuff I love to use in the winter in my post here) of skincare products every day for almost 3 years, that is until I tried Clinique Redness Solutions a couple of months ago – do check this post out to see what I bought from Clinique. I will give my honest opinion on Clinique’s Redness Solutions in not too distant future, as I feel I have spent a fair amount of time to give it a good go.
But I digress, as usual. I wanted to share my latest “beauty/skincare” acquisition that I am loving this month – Dior’s Colour Awakening Lip Balm in shade 004 – Coral. I used to have one like it in pink shade but for the life of me cannot remember what I did with it – there was some product still left but, oh well, I have now got the new one. As I was saying, my lips were really dry and peely so I needed to get a good lip balm, and I remember Dior being quite good – it feels very comfortable on my lips, moisturises really well and does not feel greasy or waxy, and adds some pretty colour too. Also, this balm claims to have an SPF10 filter. Uh, oh, I really like the smell of this balm too – it smells vanilla-like to me. I love vanilla.
I am loving the beautiful packaging of this product too – it is in line with the design of all other Dior’s Addict lipstick line products.
The label shows a fairly accurate indication of the shade the lip balm has, although, when it is first applied to the lips, it is sheer with just a tiny bit of shine, but after a few minutes it develops a gorgeous shade – not too dark, just a little tint that brightens the lips.
This lip balm reacts to the unique chemistry of my lips and seems to bring out a natural shade that suits my complexion – it really looks healthy and somehow give my lips more definition that usually only proper lipsticks do.
Bottom line is – I really love Dior’s lip balms, from the packaging to the scent. It is quite a special product, really, and Dior is one of those iconic French brands that makes beautiful things that are a real pleasure to use and own. I would not hesitate to recommend this lip balm to anyone – it is a real find, although it cost me £24, it is money well spent as it does a great job at both being a lip balm and giving a gorgeous healthy glow to my lips.
Do you have a favourite Dior product? Have you used other shades of Dior’s Addict lip balms? I would love to hear your thoughts!
