I bet you are probably asking the same question… Another week is nearly over. I can’t believe we are half way through January already! How time flies! – do forgive me for using this good old cliché, but it really seems like it does!
It has been an interesting week for me so far, good but busy at work, and nice and relaxing at home. Today has been no exception: after a long but productive day in the office I am once more relaxing in the company of my dearest, and my friend from Ukraine who is staying with us until next week, we had a hearty meal of chicken Massaman curry with rice and salad (I was so hungry that I forgot to take the picture of it!) and a glass of delicious crisp Sancerre.
I do enjoy some wine on rare occasions, me and Simon usually drink at home, and one bottle of white wine can stay in the fridge for over a month, and the red wine lasts even longer in our house. I tend to get affected by the smallest amount of alcohol, especially if I drink on an empty stomach, and it makes me sleepy and fatigued. Once, when I was in my late teens, I managed to fall asleep under the table laden with food, while watching the New Year TV program with my family after we had our celebratory Soviet Champagne – those were the wild days!
I have also been naughty and been picking at the large plastic bag filled with chocolate bars in cute packaging and funky candies (some are called the Crazy Bee!) from Ukraine – don’t they look irresistible?
I especially love the beautiful souvenir edition of Roshen’s chocolate bars lined with beautiful pictures from different regions of Ukraine: I recognise Kyiv’s Pechersk Lavra golden domes (if you have never been there, I urge you to go – it is so beautiful!), Carpathian mountains and trembitas (world’s longest musical instrument), beautiful sunflowers, Chersonesus in Crimea (Crimea IS Ukraine, by the way), Khotyn fortress…
So, I am fully relaxed after my Sancerre and stuffed full of Massaman curry and sweets from Ukraine and look forward to Friday and then the weekend! Have a great day wherever you are and thank you for reading my blog!
